Upon reflecting on another year, I think we can all agree that 2022 was not easy! And, I don’t mean in the ‘new normal’ kind of way, but in a  ‘combined, the last few years have completely flipped how our lives look’ kind of way.

When reflecting on business and marketing, it may seem easier to put together a list of the things that haven’t changed, as opposed to those that have. Which is why, at this time of year, I think it’s totally normal to be feeling completely mixed emotions. 

  • Excitement and anticipation for the year ahead,
  • Sadness and regret for any goals you might have fallen short of last year,
  • Wonder and curiosity about what’s to come,
  • Anxiety and questioning on what the next year will look like.

Can you relate to this?

Truthfully, I think around the new year, we’re all feeling this to an extent. I believe the first step to overcoming these mixed feelings is to acknowledge it and use those emotions to help propel us forward.

While you might find yourself feeling a little resistant to reflecting on the past twelve months, I honestly believe that in order to move forward, you need to look back. Take inventory of where you are and set your vision for how you want your business to change over the course of the year.

Afterall, if you never look back, you’ll never be able to move forward.

✔️ Embracing change; change is inevitable, so embrace it, look forward to it

✔️ Crafting a well-rounded, data-driven marketing strategy

✔️ Customer-centricity; researching and really caring about your customers

✔️ Email marketing

✔️ Being purpose-driven; leading with your brand values

✔️ Getting in front of more people by using genuine community-building strategies

✔️ User-generated content (UGC)

✔️ Prioritising mental health 

2023 is the year for Kicking Marketing Goals!

Essentially, what I think is really IN for 2023 is kicking your business goals, whilst really protecting your mental health.

If you’ve ever spent hours writing a single social media caption because it didn’t feel “perfect”, this is the year to scratch that! In 2023, you’re only going to be posting content that aligns with your brand values. You’re not going to waste time trying to learn that latest dance trend if you don’t want to. You’re not going to spend all of your time utilising one marketing platform if it’s not converting. And, you’re definitely not listening to rumours about algorithms and shadow bans from random people in Facebook groups.
